Leatherhead needs greater investment and environmental support

Since the last local elections, the Liberal Democrats have become a dominant force in Leatherhead and are part of the majority which is running Mole Valley District Council. The Party has therefore been pushing forward a number of policies including one to revitalise the centre of Leatherhead economically and socially. Given the financial constraints imposed by successive Conservative governments on local authorities the task is not an easy one, but nevertheless the LibDems continue to press forward with their plans. As these plans also heavily feature improving the recreational usage of the River Mole, the ecological disaster cause by sewage dumping in that river has, along with other environmental issues, led the Council to declare an Ecological Emergency – one which will spur the Party locally and nationally to rise to the challenge of reversing decades of neglect and underinvestment by our privatised utilities.
