Epsom & Ewell Needs More Trains

Just a stone's throw away from London.

Just a stone's throw away from London, I know just how important good transport links are for us all, especially fast and reliable trains. However, the number of trains running through Epsom, Ewell, Ashtead and Leatherhead has halved since the pandemic.

That's why I'm campaigning to return train frequency to four an hour.

Many of my constituents have expressed their dread at the prospect of paying sky-high train fares just to squeeze on an overcrowded train with nowhere to sit. I've been pushing the Government to freeze rail fares and stop making passengers pay more for a service that is not delivering as well as it should.

I have also been calling on the Government to speed up the rollout of South Western Railway's (SWR) new Arterio trains to make travelling to and from Epsom & Ewell as easy and as accessible as possible. I wrote to the Transport Secretary alongside my Liberal Democrat colleagues, urging the Government to ensure that the renationalisation of SWR, means increased efforts to get our new trains in action.

Since writing to the Transport Secretary, I'm pleased to see the number of Arterio trains running through Epsom, Ewell West, Ashtead, Leatherhead and Stoneleigh stations have increased, but SWR must do so much better.

Sign Helen Maguire MP's campaign to return trains to pre-covid frequency. Since Covid the Train Frequency through Epsom Ewell Ashtead and Leatherhead decreased. Five years on we still have fewer trains. Your MP is fighting to restore trains frequency.
