Helen on Local Crime
I've heard from countless constituents who are worried about crime in Epsom & Ewell, and rightly so. From anti-social behaviour to vehicle, bike and tool theft, I've been working closely with local police to make our streets safer.
I even held a walkabout with the Epsom & Ewell Safer Neighbourhood Team, giving constituents the opportunity to raise their concerns directly with our local police, and I look forward to holding more of these soon.
A number of constituents have also raised concerns about illegal parking and the enforcement of driving licences in Epsom & Ewell, particularly in the context of fast food and parcel delivery services. I wrote to the Roads Minister to raise these concerns.
I have also raised the issue of illegally modified e-vehicles with the Leader of Surrey County Council, Tim Oliver to discuss what steps the Council are taking to clamp down on this.
I believe that the most effective way to crack down on anti-social behaviour and crime in our streets is to restore proper community policing in our communities. This would give officers the time and resources they need to deliver the frontline policing that we deserve here in Epsom & Ewell, and I will continue to push the Home Secretary to make this a priority.
