Liberal Democrat MP for Epsom & Ewell, Helen Maguire visited Luna Cafe and Eden’s Little Bakery as her Buy Surrey, Back Britain campaign continued in Ewell.

Helen Maguire MP, kick-started her campaign in Leatherhead in April and has already visited a number of independent businesses and listened to the concerns of owners and staff amid the latest costs squeeze and changing shopping habits.

The visits also coincide with Independent Hospitality Week, which runs from May 5, 2025 - May 11, 2025.

The campaign was created to encourage businesses and their customers to come together and shout about how much their local bars, cafes, restaurants pubs, street food, event & festival traders mean to them, something Helen Maguire is proud to get behind.

Liberal Democrat MP for Epsom & Ewell, Helen Maguire, said:

“The hospitality industry has been hit from pillar to post since Brexit, with prices rising through the roof and rising bills introduced by successive Governments. Shopping and eating habits have also changed drastically since the Covid pandemic, putting enormous pressure on businesses in my constituency and beyond.

“Independent Hospitality Week is a great opportunity to champion the local businesses in the hospitality sector that make our communities thrive, from cafes like Luna to bakeries like Eden’s in Ewell and it’s even better that it coincides with my Buy Surrey, Back Britain campaign.

“It is important to recognise the fantastic role our independents play in our villages and towns and the boost they provide to our local economy. I hope my constituents will choose to eat and drink locally, where possible, and sample the amazing produce our independents have to offer during such challenging times.”
