Liberal Democrat MP for Epsom & Ewell, Helen Maguire launched her ‘Buy Surrey, Back Britain’ campaign in Leatherhead, with visits to three independent businesses.

Helen Maguire MP kicked off her visit to Leatherhead by meeting the owner of high street boutique, Olivia’s Closet, where they discussed changing shopping habits, high street rejuvenation and the challenges they are facing amid the latest National Insurance (NI) increase.

She also visited Sunshine Cafe, where she spoke with owner Abdul about Trump’s tariffs and the pressures facing the hospitality sector post-Covid pandemic.

Helen Maguire launched her ‘Buy Surrey’ campaign to encourage residents in Epsom, Ewell, Ashtead and Leatherhead to shop local and support their high street as much as possible during these testing times.

Liberal Democrat MP for Epsom & Ewell, Helen Maguire, said:

“Buy Surrey, Back Britain is about championing the businesses that keep our local community thriving.

“From independent coffee shops and restaurants to high street boutiques, Epsom & Ewell has so much to offer, but our local businesses need our help and support during this time of economic instability.

“After 14 years of Conservative chaos, the Labour Government’s failure to grow our economy has left business owners facing near-insurmountable decisions - from laying off staff to potentially having to close altogether.

“Instead of opting for the big brands and international chains, this campaign is about doing our bit to support all the brilliant businesses we have to offer here in Epsom, Ewell, Ashtead and Leatherhead.”
