The new constituency of Epsom and Ewell

  • Epsom

Epsom remains the largest urban area in the Epsom & Ewell Parliamentary constituency. Together with Ewell it forms the area managed by Epsom & Ewell Borough Council. The town has significant areas where lower income families live alongside some of the most expensive housing in the UK. This provides significant challenges which the Liberal Democrats seek to address.

  • Ewell

Ewell lies just 12 miles south of central London and is the northern most part of the Epsom & Ewell Parliamentary constituency. Ewell’s small shops should be thriving, but the pandemic and economic recession has taken its toll and so the Liberal Democrats want to tackle the economy while improving the environment, for example, by stopping sewage being dumped into local rivers like the Hogsmill.

  • Ashtead

The Epsom & Ewell Parliamentary constituency runs along the A24 from Ewell in the north, through Epsom and into the largest urban area in Mole Valley, Ashtead Village. There are significant numbers of Liberal Democrats voters living in Ashtead, who together with disgruntled members of the Conservative Party are expected to provide a much stronger support for the Liberal Democrats at the next general election.

  • Leatherhead

Leatherhead is the southernmost part of the Epsom & Ewell Parliamentary constituency – on the south side of the M25 and is one of the three urban areas that makes up the urban areas of Mole Valley District Council. The town has recently been merged into the constituency and brings with it a significant number of Liberal Democrat supporters.
