Defence Spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats
I'm a veteran and former captain of the Royal Military Police, where I served in Bosnia and Iraq.
I commissioned from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2000, before joining the Royal Military Police (RMP), where I was awarded the rank of captain. During my time in the RMP, I was part of a Stabilisation Force mission in Bosnia. I also served in Iraq, where I was tasked with helping to rebuild the Iraqi police and providing on-the-ground counter-insurgency policing support to front-line infantry.
In 2016, I retrained as a chartered fundraiser and established a fundraising consultancy business. My dedication in this field has secured more than £1 million for UK charities—efforts recognised at the National Fundraising Awards in 2019, where I was honoured as a “Rising Star.” In 2022, I was named “Service Leaver of the Year” at the British Ex-Forces in Business Awards. In 2023, I was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to my community.
In September 2024, I was appointed Defence Spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats, where I bring my wealth of military and community-focused experience to the role in dangerous and uncertain times. I will continue to advocate for:
- A well-resourced, modern armed forces, including a reversal to the Conservatives' 10,000 troops cut.
- Improving support for veterans and their families
- Increasing defence spending and backing our British defence industry.
- Better cooperation with our European NATO allies.
- Steadfast support for Ukraine against Putin's illegal war.
